Dr. Chaomei Chen is associate professor in the College of Information Science and Technology at Drexel University. He is a Chang Jiang Scholar at Dalian University of Technology, China since 2008 and has been a visiting professor at Brunel University in the United Kingdom (2002-2008). He received his bachelor degree in mathematics from Nankai University, China, his master's degree in computation from the University of Oxford and his doctorate in computer science from the University of Liverpool. His research interests include information visualization, visual analytics, knowledge domain visualization, mapping scientific frontiers, and analysis and modeling of discovery and innovation in science and technology. Dr. Chen is the author of Information Visualization: Beyond the Horizon (Springer 2004) and Mapping Scientific Frontiers: The Quest for Knowledge Visualization (Springer 2003). He is the founder and the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Information Visualization (Palgrave-Macmilan). He received the 2002 ASIST/ISI Citation Research Award. He is a member of the Thomson Scientific Strategic Advisory Board. He is the principal investigator of research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and other sponsors. His earlier research was funded by the European Union, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK), and the Library and Information Commission (UK). Dr. Chen created the widely used software CiteSpace for visualizing and analyzing emerging trends in scientific literature.

Professor, Doctoral advisor, studied in School of Mechanical Engineering, Dalian Institute of Technology(today’s Dalian University of Technology, DUT) from 1957 to 1962; then stayed to be a teacher behind graduation and assumed the office of the fist dean of school of humanities and social science of DUT from 1999 to 2000; currently holds the post of director of academic committee of school of humanities and social science of DUT, and director of centre for 21st development studies of DUT, and vice director of knowledge science and technology research centre DUT; originated the first doctoral subject of science of science and management of science and technology as well as became its principal.
Prof. Liu Zeyuan holds a concurrent post vice president of Chinese Association for Science of science and S&T Policy Research(Beijing), vice president of Dalian social science league, consultation commissioner of Dalian city government, doctoral advisor for science and technology philosophy of Northeast University, pluralistic professor of Tianjin University, Henan Normal University, Shenyang Normal University, Hebei University of Science &Technology, Dalian University, and assistant chief editor of Journal of Dalian University of Technology(Social Science), editor of magazine of science of science and management of S&T, takes government spatial allowance awarder by State Department because of the important contribution to education, has the honor to win title of outstanding expert of Dalian because of contribution to Daian development of S&T.
